Play to Win 3
“Now that that’s settled then,” Mikael put down his glass of wine onto the table. “will you be joining us for a town’s annual summer party they have every year?” Mikael asked with a skeptical tone. He did not sound like he wanted him to come at all.
Niklaus knew what this meant. The family was to go out and each have a little fun of their own but not too much fun. But he had some other plans in mind.
“ No I think I’ll stay in tonight, work on my paintings.” Niklaus said taking a sip of his wine.
“What are you working on, Niklaus? You know I admire your work.” Rebekah said from across the table.
“Not sure yet, sister. But I promise you, you will be the first I show.” Niklaus smiled at his sister. Rebekah smiled back.
“Alright then, family.” Mikael rose from the table. “Shall we get ready for this evenings activites?”
The whole family rose and each went their separate ways to get ready. Each one went to their rooms and in a moments notice were out and ready. Niklaus stayed in his room and pulled out his paints. Rebekah opened to door. “Don’t be shy if you want to come. You know you will be missed.”
“I would not count on me being missed but do not fret. I will if I feel like it, sister.” Niklaus gave his sister a reassuring grin. She grinned back and closed the door.
When everyone was finally gone, Niklaus heard the door bell ring. He smiled, for he knew exactly who it was. He walked out of his room and went down stairs to open the door to greet Caitie.
“Hi. Is everyone gone? I waited the latest I could.” She said shivering.
Niklaus looked at her in awe. She had her hair tied up in a ribbon and was not wearing a dress like she would normally wear out. She was indeed wearing trousers like men did. Not to say Niklaus didn’t think they looked good on her.
“Yes, they all went into town for the night. Come inside.”
Caitie walked through the big double doors and looked around. “Wow, this is your house?” she said in amazement.
“It’s nothing special I can assure you.” Niklaus told her with a blank stare.
“Are you kidding me? It’s amazing. I would do anything to live like this.” Caitie said, still looking around the room in awe. “Oh so there is something you’ve been wanting to tell me?” Caitie said as she looked down from her visual tour of the Mikaelsen family home.
“Yes, but let us worry about that later. Drink?”, Niklaus looked at Caitie with a dark stare. It had been a while since he drank blood, but he had forgotten that since all he could think about lately was her. He fought the craving, and hard he fought.
“No thank you. I don’t really touch the stuff.” Caitie said shaking her head.
“And why’s that, my dear?” Niklaus asked as he poured a drink for himself.
“Just never did. No reason.” Said Caitie as she was looking at him pour the drink.
Niklaus didn’t really care if she drank he just needed to. It helped his cravings badly. But this craving is very hard to ignore, especially when he had already had a taste of her delicious blood, and he was very hungry as well.
“So, are we going to practice fighting tonight, or do you have something else in mind?” asked Caitie, looking at Niklaus darkly.
Taking a sip of his drink and putting it on the counter top of the desk next to him, he walked over to the chair Caitie was standing next to. As he sat down Caitie climbed on top on his lap facing him.
“You know what I find weird, Caitie?” Niklaus asked, examining Caitie.
“And what may that be, Niklaus? Your inability to be seduced?” Caitie teased, while taking the ribbon out of her hair.
Niklaus looked at her darkly and chuckled. He slowly reached up her back and grabbed the back of her neck and moved her to his right so she was horizontal to the ground. She didn’t seem to care. In fact she seemed to love it. He brought her back up guiding her with his hand, and grabbed her neck a little tighter and started to kiss her right side of her neck slowly. He knew he shouldn’t be doing this. But he couldn’t stop. He went up the side of her next and onto her face and gently kissed her lips. He couldn’t think of anything going wrong at such a perfect moment. Until they both decided to open their eyes.
“NIKLAUS?! Your EYES?!” Caitie shrieked, jumping off his lap and falling onto the ground.
Niklaus jumped up from the excitement and ran to a mirror. His eyes were blood red and around his eyes were dark black veins popping out of his skin. He shut them tightly, begging them to go away. Not now. Not this night.
He opened his eyes and the veins were gone but his eyes were still red. He couldn’t do anything. He was too hungry. He turned to Caitie who was still on the ground laying there in horror.
“What is wrong with your eyes, Niklaus?” Caitie said slowly getting up.
There was no way out of it. He had planned on telling her tonight but obviously not this way. But he saw no other option but to tell her the truth.
“I’m hungry Catherine. Extremely hungry. I haven’t eaten in days” He said as plain as ever.
“Well then let me make you something to eat.” Caitie said about to walk into the kitchen.
“There is nothing in there that would get rid of this hunger.” Niklaus snapped at her.
“What do you mean?” Caitie said, confused. She took a step backwards from him.
Niklaus saw that and he knew it meant that she might not take it well at all as he thought she would. But he had to press on.
“I am a vampire, my lady.” Niklaus said as his eyes had finally turned back to normal. He just stared at her.
“You’re a what?” Caitie said. Some of it did not come out too clearly.
